ALS, 1848 October 1 : Saint Louis, to Samuel George Morton.

On all his expeditions to the West, Fremont collected specimens for scientific study. In this letter, written just as he was about to depart on his fourth Western journey, Fremont discusses skulls that he had gathered during his previoius trips. Morton was an important naturalist and physician.
